Ray Ban Aviator Lenses

Ray Ban Aviator sunglasses lenses provide 100% UVA, UVB and UVC protection against the sun’s potential harmful ultraviolet rays.

Ray-Ban lenses are made of optical glass, scientifically manufactured to provide full glare protection to improve the wearer’s vision.

They block visible glare, check ultraviolet radiation, and reduce the level of infrared and heat rays.

There are 5 type of lenses,

1. G-15 XLT lenses

G-15 XLT lenses have the same properties as B15 XLT lenses. They are composed of green and gray pigments.

This lens has a lower contrast than the B-15 XLT lens allowing for the color and brightness of objects to be softer and more natural.

The green and gray lenses balance all colors equally to retain its true value of 85% visible light absorption, the difference would not be noticed.

2. B-15 XLT lenses

B-15 XLT lens are high contrast brown lenses. They block 100% of all UV rays and allow only 15% of the visible light to pass through them.

This lenses also offer more contrast by cutting down the amount of blue light, better then the G-15 lenses.

Ray-Ban's B-15 XLT lenses were originally created for the United States Air Force pilots.

3. Gradient Lenses

Gradient lenses are darker at the top of the lens and lighter moving downwards until it is no longer visible on the lens.

This technology was developed for pilots for easier viewing of the controls. Their eyes are protected from the suns rays, but at the same time is able to easily glance down at the instrument panel without having difficulty.

They are popular due to their look, and come in many different gradients. They are also offered in bi-gradient color combinations.

There are 2 types of Gradient lenses,

Crystal - The crystal lens is tinted on the backside using high vacuum processes, allowing the adhesion of thin layers of oxides to the lenses to achieve smooth colour transactions.

Plastic - The plastic Ray-Ban lens achieves a transition in shading from dark to light thanks to a precise chemical immersion process.

4. Mirror Lenses

A superheated metal oxides, the mirror coat application are infused on the lens at molecular level to achieve a uniform layer by using an advanced technological process.

This mirror effect helps to reduce glare, deflect envious glances and give you that unique look.

5. Polarized Lenses

Polarized lenses are made using a special optical filter which absorbs the horizontal component of light and transmits only the vertical component.

As a result, bright reflected light is eliminated and eye strain is reduced.

However, polarized lenses do not block UV light, so they require additional coatings or coloring agents to provide complete eye protection.

The sun light reflected by any surface, for example while driving, walking on the beach, or skiing on the mountains, is the polarized light.

Polarized lens eliminate glare, enhances contrasts, reduce eye strain and increases visual clarity.
